Manderson and Pine Ridge in June
Tae and Blossom. Tae was 6 weeks from the birth of her baby when she decided to join us, even though it meant a lot of hard work and probably sleeping on the cold floor!
We had a team of 14 to work with--pregnant Tae, Shoeless Phil (who forgot them in Texas, and Coatless Ann (who left her jacket at Big Bat's)-- when we said we understood, we often meant through most recent experiences, ha!
Sweet Freida treated us to a yummy indian taco breakfast one chilly wet morning, all home-made fry-bread with tons of love!
Wade loaned us a truck, and James drove--distributing at 3 locations (the Children's village in Pine Ridge proper, Wounded Knee community center, and St. Agnes in Manderson. Wade had also done a lot of footwork in scrounging donations from detergent to food staples!
Giveaway time!
Supplies for all!
Books and special time for the kids--even balloons and face-painting!
The halt, the lame and the pregnant helping out!
Even Buddy to rez dog, and his little friend got treats!
Afterwards we made some new friends while waiting for the Crazy-Horse ride to come in...
These guys are building a playground at St.John's. That way the kids can be outdoors during wakes and solem occasions. They have asked for help...want to?
